everRun® for Microsoft® Exchange Server

Complete Exchange High Availability Protection

Protecting Exchange from Single Points of Failure

Businesses of all sizes are using Microsoft Exchange for communications functions that if lost, for even a short amount of time, can result in severe business disruption. No wonder Exchange has become a critical application for so many businesses. To successfully ensure Exchange high availability, you need to ensure that no single point of failure can make your Exchange servers, storage or networks unavailable.

A Better High Availability Option than Exchange Failover Software

everRun software eliminates single points of failure and maintains Exchange high availability by protecting Exchange Servers from:

  • Unplanned server, storage or network downtime
  • Planned downtime due to reconfiguration, hardware and software upgrades
  • Data loss or corruption
  • Site failures or disasters

everRun is a great choice for protecting Microsoft Exchange and related infrastructure:

  • Higher levels of availability than competing failover solutions
  • Selectable fault-tolerance using a range of everRun products along with the "availability dial" of everRun VM
  • Simple to install and manage with no need for specialized staff experience or training;
  • Solutions for both virtual and physical environments
  • Solutions for local, near distance and long distance availability and data protection;
  • Choice of either locally-attached or networked storage
  • Built-in failover policy eliminates complex policy definition and the potential for policy errors
  • Sophisticated error detection is faster and more reliable than simple heartbeats
  • Cost effective for a wide range of Exchange environments
  • Protection for critical Windows infrastructure components along with Exchange

everRun Exchange High Availability and Disaster Recovery Protection

everRun Exchange High Availability and Disaster Recovery Protection

Diagram 1 shows Exchange, along with an associated infrastructure, in a disaster recovery scenario using everRun DR across two extended distance sites. everRun VM is used for local high availability protection as well as a way to use virtualization benefits to simplify management and reduce cost of the disaster recovery solution. At the production site, the Exchange Mailbox, Client Access and critical infrastructure services are running as individual virtual machines across a pool of three servers. At the disaster site, the same virtual machines are configured to run on only two servers, illustrating that the primary and disaster site configurations can be different. This allows companies to save cost by optimizing the disaster site configurations to the specific needs of disaster recovery operation. Data is replicated across the two sites in real time using everRun DR. Exchange failover between the two sites is also managed by everRun DR.

Diagram 2 shows Exchange, along with an associated infrastructure, with high availability protection provided by everRun operating across two separate sites using the SplitSite option. A pair of servers - one located at the primary site and one at the backup site - protects the Exchange Mailbox Server using everRun. A second pair of servers, also split between the two sites, protects the critical infrastructure services using everRun. The sites are connected using a high-speed network link. The combination of everRun and SplitSite provides all the benefits of everRun local high availability protection while adding high availability protection for site failures and local disasters without the need for a traditional disaster recovery solution.
